Accreditation is an external review process by which experts authorize or give credentials that indicate standards and expectations have been met by academic programs or institutions.

CSU Monterey Bay is accredited, as an institution, by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).
The WSCUC accreditation process aids CSU Monterey Bay in developing and sustaining effective educational programs and assures the educational community, the general public, and other organizations that this University meets high standards of quality and effectiveness.
Specific academic units may also have specialized accreditation.
