Browsing for Glossary Terms

You can browse for glossary terms in the CSUMB Data Glossary by:

• Initial Letter (alphabetical),
• Where Term Appears (what dashboard or reports terms appear on),
• or Data Custodian (entity on campus that “owns” or has a primary stake in a particular data element).

Browsing by Initial Letter

From the Main Page, use the links in the Browse by Initial Letter box:

Glossary terms are organized in these pages by the letter the term begins with.

For example, clicking on A, takes you to a page where all of the glossary terms beginning with the letter “A” are organized in alphabetical order.

To navigate to a glossary term page from this list, you just click on the linked term in the list.

You can also preview the definition of the glossary term by hovering your mouse pointer over the term:

Browsing by Where Term Appears

From the Main Page, use the links in the Browse by Where Term Appears box:

Glossary terms are organized in these pages by the CSUMB Data Warehouse Dashboard or Other Report that the terms appear on.

For example, clicking on Academic Planning Database (APDB) Dashboard, takes you to a page where all of the glossary terms that appear on the Academic Planning Database (APDB) Dashboard in the CSUMB Data Warehouse are organized in alphabetical order.

To navigate to a glossary term page from this list, you just click on the linked term in the list.

Browsing by Data Custodian

From the Main Page, use the links in the Browse by Data Owner box:

Glossary terms are organized in these pages by the entity on campus that “owns” or has a primary stake in a particular data element.

For example, clicking on Academic and Centralized Scheduling, takes you to a page where all of the glossary terms for data elements owned by Academic and Centralized Scheduling are organized in alphabetical order.

To navigate to a glossary term page from this list, you just click on the linked term in the list.
