Definition Source
"Enter the default begin and end date for classes offered in the session. When you define class sections, the system migrates the session begin and end dates to the class start and end dates on the Basic Data page of the Schedule New Course component. You can override these dates for the class section. Warning! The system does not validate against term begin and end dates. Session begin and end dates can extend beyond the boundaries of the begin and end dates of the term."[1]
