Understanding Retention Metric Enrollment Terms

The table below helps Campus Data Warehouse: Retention and Graduation Detail > Multilevel Crosstab Table users understand a cohort’s continued enrollment and how those correspond with year and term retention metrics. Cohorts may start in different matriculation terms (Fall, Spring, or Summer), so each retention milestone — such as 0-Year and 1-Term Retention, 1-Year Retention, or 2-Year and 2-Term Retention — occurs in a different future term depending on when the cohort began. The table below shows the “enrollment term” for each retention metric depending on the matriculation term of the cohort, making it easier to know which subsequent term’s enrollment counts toward the retention metrics.
