Admission Basis

From CSUMB Data Glossary
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Admission Basis identifies how a student was admitted to the campus under requirements defined in Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations or in Executive Orders of the Chancellor. For undergraduates, after census the Admission Basis will not change, providing the student remains an undergraduate at the campus. A new Admission Basis is assigned if the student applies and is admitted to the campus as a postbaccalaureate or graduate student.

"ADMISSION BASIS CODE: A code, which identifies how a student was admitted to the reporting campus under requirements, defined in Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations or in Executive Orders of the chancellor. For undergraduates, the code will indicate the original basis for admission and will not change, providing the student remains an undergraduate at that campus. A new code should be assigned if the student applies and is admitted to the campus as a postbaccalaureate or graduate student. NOTE: For returning students - if the applicant is not admitted, the Admission Basis Code should be blank."[2]

"(COVID disruptions) codes reflect issues affecting admissions basis including but not limited to grading, course completion, late transcription resulting from COVID 19 pandemic and institutional reactions beyond the control of the student. The In-progress status implies inability to verify completion of grades or required coursework due to delayed transcripts."[2]
