This guide will help you save, apply, edit, and clear dashboard page customizations and filters in the CSUMB Data Warehouse.

What Are Page Customizations?

Dashboard Page Customizations provide a mechanism within the CSUMB Data Warehouse for users to save customizations made to a dashboard page (e.g. filter prompt selections applied, pivot table formatting, etc.) for quick access and future use. Using saved customizations in conjunction with Favorites (see Getting Started with the CSUMB Data Warehouse) will allow you to return to dashboards you use often and quickly apply customizations and filters you have saved during a prior session.

Saving Your Customizations and Filters

  1. To save customizations you have made and filters that you have applied to a dashboard page, open the Page Options menu located under “Signed In As [your name]” in the Header navigation.
  2. Within the Page Options menu, select the Save Current Customization… option.

Give your customization a special name that is meaningful to you and will help you easily find it when you return to this page and access your Saved Customizations.

  1. Enter a Name for your customization.
  2. Optional [not recommended]: check the Make this my default for this page checkbox if you want this customization to be applied each time you access this report. You will need to remember that your saved customizations is being applied
  3. Click the OK button.

If you already have a saved customization with the name you have chosen for your new saved customization, the system will ask you if you want to overwrite the existing customization.

Choose Yes to replace the existing customization with your current settings. This is useful if you have updated the filters or table customizations and want to update the saved customization with your changes.

Choose No to go back to the previous screen and enter a different name for the customization you are saving.

Applying a Saved Customization

To apply one of your saved customizations to a dashboard page, navigate to the dashboard page you want to apply a saved customization on.

[Tip: You may wish to save dashboard pages you use frequently and those that you have saved customizations on in your Favorites for quick access. See the Getting Started Guide for working with favorites.]
  1. Open the Page Options menu located under “Signed In As [your name]” in the Header navigation.
  2. Select Apply Saved Customization to open your list of saved customizations for the dashboard page you are on.
  3. Select the saved customization you want to apply from your list of saved customizations.

The dashboard page will update with your selected saved customization.

Editing Saved Customizations

Customizations you have previously saved can be edited. For example, you can change the name of a previously saved customization; you can delete customizations if you no longer need them; and you can change the default customization for a particular dashboard page.

To open the Edit Saved Customizations menu:

  1. Open the Page Options menu located under “Signed In As [your name]” in the Header navigation.
  2. Select Edit Saved Customizations to open the edit saved customizations dialog.

The next time you access this dashboard page, these filters/customizations in the saved customization you set as My Default will be applied automatically.

[Tip: We do not recommend setting saved customizations as default as you may visit the page and not remember that filters or customizations have been applied. However, if you have set a saved customization as your default and want to return to using the system default for a dashboard page, select the radio button next to No Personal Customizations. Then click OK to save your changes.]

Clearing Your Customizations

Clearing customizations can help when you want to go back to the system default settings for a page. This can be useful if you have made several optional filter prompt selections, if you have modified a pivot table to remove or exclude columns, or if you are getting errors on a page after making applying a customization.

To clear your customization from a dashboard page:

  1. Open the Page Options menu located under “Signed In As [your name]” in the Header navigation.
  2. Select Clear My Customization.

All of the filters and customizations that have been made will be removed and the dashboard page will run with the system defaults.
