Self-Support FTEs
Self-Support FTEs are full time equivalent (FTEs) funded via self-support mode, meaning they are not supported through state general fund appropriations and are instead funded via the collection of non-state-supported student fees that are adequate to meet the cost of maintaining operation in the long run.

For graduate students, Self-Support FTEs are calculated as total self-supported units enrolled divided by 12. For all others, Self-Support FTEs are calculated as total self-supported units enrolled divided by 15.

"Self-Support Mode: Instruction offered through self-support mode does not receive state general fund appropriations and instead collects non-state student fees that are adequate to meet the cost of maintaining operation in the long run. Such fees shall be required pursuant to rules and regulations prescribed by the trustees, including but not limited to fee policies such as Executive Order 1054 and Education Code section 89708."[1]
