Multiple Race Category
Multiple Race Category is a derived value based on the CSU application question "What is your race?"

The student may decline to state any race or may select one and only one race category from each of five race category lists:
- White
- Black or African American
- American Indian or Alaska Native
- Asian
- Native American or Other Pacific Islander
- Southwest Asian north African

Definition Source
"Derived value from CSUMentor based on the "What is your race?" question. The student may decline to state any race or may select one and only one race category from each of the five race category lists provided by CSUMentor: White(4 choices), Black or African American(4 choices), American Indian or Alaska Native(33 choices), Asian(25 choices) or Native American or Other Pacific Islander(24 choices) or Southwest Asian North African (34 choices). Southwest Asian North African (Race Code 6) rolls up in to White. Race Code 1 and Race Code 6 (non-blank code in one or both) rollup into Multiple Race Category = 1 (WhiteOnly) if Race Codes 2 through 5 = Blank. Southwest Asian North African (Race Code 6) plus any RACE Code 2 through 5 reports as White plus other race(s)."[1]
