Cohort Type classifies how new students were admitted to CSUMB in their matriculation term or matriculation academic year.

Examples
Examples of Cohort Types include:
- First-time students (First-Time Freshman, First-Time Grad, First-Time Credential, and First-Time Postbacc)
- Lower Division Transfers
- Upper Division Transfers
In enrollment reports, continuing students in a given term will appear as "-" or "Not Applicable" for Cohort Type.
In Retention and Graduation reports, Cohort Type is necessary for classifying the entering cohort of students at matriculation.
