First-Time, Full-Time Freshman (FTFTF) are students who enrolled as freshmen, attempted at least 12 units in their first term, who are not transferring from another 2 or 4 year higher-ed institution, and who have no prior history of enrollment at a CSU.

Students may still be considered freshmen under this definition if they have college credits earned for courses taken while still enrolled in high school or in the summer immediately after graduating high school.
