EdSights is an AI chatbot (Monte) that engages our undergraduate students through supportive, personalized text message conversations with campaigns every ~2 weeks. Based solely on these text interactions, EdSights assesses and assigns Risk Ratings across key Risk Categories, helping the campus identify concerns early and connect students with appropriate support.

In Fall 2025 CSUMB adopted an AI/SMS chatbot (Monte) from EdSights that will help us maintain connections with students, increase engagement and support our retention goals. The Monte chatbot checks in with students about their experience at Cal State Monterey Bay and provides them with support resources--predefined by the campus with responsible departments--that match the student's needs. The tool prompts student feedback in four areas: academic engagement, social engagement, financial distress and wellness. Students who indicate concerns are referred to appropriate resources on campus and are flagged for professional follow up.

The EdSights (Monte Chatbot) Analytics dashboard in Campus Data Warehouse brings the EdSights Risk Categories and Risk Ratings together with student characteristics from enrollment in the term of interaction with the chatbot. This enables the campus to explore risk patterns across various student groups to identify where additional support resources may be needed at a strategic level.
